Speed Scanning: Introducing Continuous Scan
The problem with waiting
At an estate sale, you do not find one piece at a time. You spot a lamp, a stack of prints, a chair with a label you cannot read from across the room — and the good stuff does not wait for you to stand on a processing screen between every shot.
That rhythm is fine when you are identifying one item at home. It is the wrong rhythm when you are trying to work a room.
What Continuous Scan does
Continuous Scan lets you keep scanning while each identification processes in the background.
When you tap Identify, Tocuro accepts the scan and you return to the camera immediately — no blocking wait screen. A compact status pill near the top of the Scan tab tracks what is happening: Scan started, Uploading…, Uploaded, and when results are in, new IDs ready.
Tap the ready chip to jump to Identified, where finished results appear with a green NEW marker. Open any result for the same identification, value estimate, and analysis you are used to.
It is built for momentum: scan, scan again, review when you are ready.
When to use it
Continuous Scan shines when you are moving fast through many items:
- •Thrift stores and estate sales — cover more ground before the sale ends
- •Antique markets and flea markets — walk a booth without stopping at every piece
- •Decluttering and home inventory — work through a pile without friction between items
- •Reseller prep — quick passes when you are sorting what to list
Need multiple angles on one special piece? That is what Multi-Photo Scan is for. Continuous Scan is about throughput; Multi-Photo Scan is about depth. On Collector, you can use both — submit several photos of the same item and keep scanning while it processes.
How it works
If you are on Tocuro Collector in the Tocuro app (monthly or annual subscription):
- •Open the Scan tab and capture a photo (or use Multi-Photo Scan for 2–4 angles on one piece).
- •Tap Identify.
- •You stay on the camera. A brief Scan started confirmation appears, then the status pill tracks upload and processing.
- •When results are ready, tap new IDs ready on the Scan tab — or open Identified to see them with a green NEW marker.
- •Keep scanning. Results accumulate in the background while you work.
If you are not on Collector yet, Identify works the same as before — each scan waits on the processing screen until the result is ready.
A few things to know
- •Included with Tocuro Collector — Continuous Scan is available on monthly and annual Collector subscriptions.
- •Tocuro app — Continuous Scan is available in the Tocuro iOS app for Collector users. Scanning on the web still processes one identification at a time before you can continue.
- •One identification per scan — Each completed scan creates one identification, same as a standard scan.
- •Works with Multi-Photo Scan — You can submit 2–4 photos of the same piece in continuous mode when a single angle is not enough.
